Where it all started…
Romane Borrione (Romy) wasn't born into a horse family, but her sister and father were riders. Romy hopped on a horse at the tender age of three, igniting a passion that only grew stronger with time. While pursuing her studies at the prestigious Sciences Po Lille in France, where she majored in Political Science, Romy kept her equestrian passion alive by competing in amateur-level show jumping and eventing.
The racing industry
Upon graduating with a Master's Degree in Public Affairs, Romy decided to give her lifelong passion a professional chance. She enrolled in the MESB (Master in Equine Science and Business) program, earning her second Master's Degree in 2017. During this time she spent time at the Kentucky University in Lexington (USA) as well as different internships across various studs and institutions within the French racing industry. This academic shift marked the beginning of her career in the equine industry.
Romy then worked for two bloodstock agents and a trainer in France during which she also obtained her amateur jockey license.
2019 - Australia
With a clear plan to broaden her horizons, she moved to Australia to immerse herself in the racing industry. In October 2019, she joined Ciaron Maher Racing as a track rider. Her innovative approach quickly became evident as she implemented data and science into daily training through the Equimetre by Arioneo. Romy's initiative and work to implement the use of heart rate monitors daily within the stables led to the creation of the Sports Science section of the stable, which expanded to include two other members by 2022. In June 2022, Romy relocated to Lindsay Park Racing for a similar role, continuing to drive the integration of data and science in training.
2023 - Race Day Ready
Recognizing the growing demand for her expertise, she founded her own performance and data analysis company, Race Day Ready, in January 2023. Romy's journey from an enthusiastic young rider to a pioneering entrepreneur in the horse racing industry is a testament to her dedication and innovative spirit.
